001 My Seattle Favorites List

Well, I’ve been to Seattle, WA twice now and I’ve narrowed down a very detailed list of things to do. These are my favorites:

  1. Eat your way through Pike Place Market! First let me just say that there are endless food options, and good ones I might add, in Seattle but if you want the true experience of the famous market then I suggest eating your way through. Yes, what I mean is there are so many fresh deli’s with your choice of sandwiches, pastries, oysters, shrimp, fruit, coffee…the list goes on. You won’t leave on an empty stomach that’s for sure.
  2. Pike Place Chowder for the the best seafood bisque you’ve ever had! I promise it won’t disappoint. I love this place because, like most of the market, it’s hidden in an alley among all the quirky shops and it’s a small counter. You might miss it if you’re not looking for it. Prepare yourself to wait in line (raincoat recommended) as this place is quite popular too. Look out for a table to snag or a seat at the counter. Everyone understands that there is limited seating so no chair goes un-used for. So be open to sitting with strangers and striking up a conversation. It’s always nice to meet other travelers!
  3. The Pink Door is another hidden gem in an alley off of Stewart Street. And it is just as it sounds, you have to find the hidden “pink door”. While I wasn’t there during their advertised burlesque show (we got there early I suppose) I did get to try to the food. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu here. What I love most about this place is the ambience and hospitality. Everyone that worked there was really nice and knowledgeable.
  4. Ride the Bainbridge Ferry across Puget Sound to Bainbridge Island. This is an experience all on it’s own even if you are just passing through to Olympic National Park. It is the cutest little island and the community is very polished. The homes are just as incredible as the views. A chef’s kiss in my opinion.
  5. Olympic National Park is a must. It’s a long drive from Seattle but it’s totally worth! I suggest entering the park and driving up Hurricane Ridge to look out at the mountains. If you are looking for that moment of complete awe, this is it! A truly life changing view.
  6. Speaking of driving to Olympic National Park I highly recommend stopping in Port Angeles for a snack. I always love stopping to get fudge at the local chocolate store. Also this was where Bella went shopping with her friends in Twilight (even though they probably used a remote location for the actual movie).
  7. Lake Crescent Lodge for another awe inspiring moment (the PNW is full of them) then look no further than Lake Crescent. A dreamy, romantic location that will leave you absolutely speechless. I recommend getting here early in the morning to see the sun coming over the mountains. Hit the lookout dock and then hike the trail to the waterfall. If you aren’t a tree hugger, this place will make you want to hug a tree. They are jaw dropping!

Note: Before you go double check that the mountain and the lodge is open. There is “in season” and “out of season” dates to watch out for. Otherwise you won’t be able to experience everything.
